Laser House is located in London’s most exciting creative sector, nestling near the junction between the Barbican and Clerkenwell. The main ambition of this six storeys building has been to fuse art and architecture. There is a strong commitment to sustainability as the three-story extension is constructed from cross laminated timber, releasing 50% less carbon than concrete. By using timber structural elements the site traffic is reduced by 70%. It is fast, simple, and environmentally friendly.
The refurbishment of Laser House will achieve practical completion next month with an outstanding design. The scheme, rebranded ‘Technique’, will provide 78,000 sq ft of best-in-class modern workspace, a restaurant, retail for the creative industries, cycle storage and refuse storage. There will also be 5,000 sq ft of affordable office space dedicated to SMEs.
